- AIRPORT
Naples International Airport, known as Aeroporto Capodichino, is situated 5 miles to the north of Naples. The most affordable way to the airport from Stazione Garibaldi is by taking bus number 35, which stops directly across from the terminal. The fare for the bus is only 1 Euro. It makes 3 or 5 stops on the way, and during the day runs around every 20 minutes. There's also an airport bus called ALIBUS, which is a little bit quicker and costs 3 Euros. This bus continues on to Piazza Municipio, which is quite close to the Capri ferries. Bus tickets can be purchased at the newsstand on the arrival level of the airport. Unicocampania day tickets are not valid on Alibus.

- TRANSPORT/MUSEUM PASS
The Campania Artecard is a special transport/museum pass which allows you to avoid waiting in line and to enter the most popular Neapolitan museums as well as the Phlegrean Fields archeological sites; plus, it includes transport on the whole public transportation system, including both land and sea, as well as the shuttle which connects the archeological sites and the museums. The price of the Campania Artecard is 13 Euros for adults and 8 Euros for travellers from 18 to 25 years of age. It's good for three days starting from when you first use it, and you can buy another card which is good for a longer period of time. The card comes with a museum and services guide in German, English, Spanish, Italian, French and Japanese.
-
You can buy the card kit at Capodichino Airport, in the Central Station, in the Metropolitan train stations, in the main hotels of the city, at every museum included in the package, as well as at the main newsagents. When you buy the card, you get free entrance for two museums or sites, and then half price on all the rest.
- PUBLIC TRANSPORT
It isn't always entirely pleasant taking public transport in Napoli. It's usually late, unclean and there are many people who don't seem to know about the use of deodorant. Still, there are many times when taking public transport is the best way to get around town.
- TRAIN TO POMPEII
Taking a train is the best way to travel to Pompeii. Go to the Garibaldi train station and take the local train. In order to find the right platform, you just need to follow the signs saying 'CIRCUMVESUVIANA'. These trains leave every 30 minutes. Take the train which goes to Sorrento. The trip takes just 35 minutes and costs 3.50 EUR for a return ticket. Get off at the POMPEI SCAVI station. Note that there isn't a bathroom on the train, so you'll need to use the one near the platform before you get on. Make sure you validate your ticket before boarding and make sure you do the same at the Pompei Scavi station on your return!
- BY SCOOTER:
Perhaps the best method for getting around town is to use a scooter. Ever wonder why most Italians use scooters? To drive past cars when there's a traffic jam, why else! And it's a lot easier finding a parking space when you have a scooter. Do wear a helmet, and you can't be too careful!
- BY BUS:
Sometimes the best way to get somewhere in Naples is to take the bus. Every local bus in Naples stops at Piazza Garibaldi once during its route. At the Western end of Piazza Garibaldi, you'll find ANM bus schedules and information. Most tobacco shops and newsstands sell bus tickets. Be forewarned, the buses can be quite crowded, and there are times when it's preferable to walk.
- BY METRO:
The Naples subway or metro is called the Metropolitana, with the primary line going from Gianturco to Pozzuoli.
- BY BOAT/HYDROFOIL:
Boats and hydrofoils leave from the waterfront in front of the Castel Nuovo to the destinations of Capri, Sorrento, Ischia and Procida, among others. Tickets are available on-site to most local destinations.
