The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore
The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, which translates into the English language as St. Mary Major, is one of the four basilicas which, along with St. Lawrence outside the Walls, were once known as the Five Patriarchal Basilicas. Behind Santa Maria Maggiore, you'll find Piazza Esquilino, where an apsidal area created in the 1600s can be enjoyed.
