Enlisted among the most visited cultural sights in the Spanish city and the most popular museums, The Picasso Museum in Barcelona features one of the largest and most extensive collections of artworks by the famous Spanish artist. Located in five adjoining medieval palaces in the Barri Gotic district, The Picasso Museum was set there after Picasso himself suggested the place as he had long connections with the city. Opened in year 1963, today the museum presents numerous works of art from Picasso and many gifts from Picasso's friends and collectors, as well as academic pieces, paintings from the Blue period, etc. Today the permanent collection consists of more than 3500 works.
