Holyrood Palace has the status of official residence of the Monarchs of the United Kingdom in Scotland. Organized as a monastery once by David I, King of Scots, the place has served as the main residence of the Queens ands Kings of Scotland. Located at the bottom of the Royal Mile and located opposite the Edinburgh Castle, the Holyrood Palace is welcoming Queen Elizabeth II for one week each summer where she is hosting garden parties and some official ceremonies.
