Vancouver was named after the British explorer, Captain George Vancouver. It is situated in British Columbia, Canada, between the Coast Mountains and the Strait of Georgia. Its economy has been built on mining, forestry, fishing and agriculture. Today, Vancouver is North America’s third-largest area for the production of films, a fact which has earned the city the nickname ‘Hollywood North’.
