City Information: The birthplace of the American ideals of liberty and independence and the city which saw the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States in the city’s Independence Hall, Philadelphia is steeped in American history.

The city grew out of a congregation established by Swedish settlers who established their life in the New World here in 1646.
