Luxury villas in Svartaborg

in the North receives rave reviews in the American travel magazine

Conde Nast Traveler

. Journalist Erika Owen writes that Svartaborg is her all-time favorite Icelandic Airbnb place in Iceland.

Owen came to Iceland this year to celebrate her 10th birthday with her husband-to-be. They came to Iceland to get married, but had to cancel their wedding due to the pandemic.

Before their wedding ceremony which took place in the southern part of Iceland, they decided to make it even more special by going north and decided to stay at Svartaborg Luxury Villas. Owen had already been to Akureyri, Húsavík and Mývatn in the north and wanted to show his partner these places.

Svartaborg is well located if you want to see all three areas. Húsavík is 25 minutes by car, Mývatnssveit 40 minutes and it takes only half an hour to drive to Akureyri.

Owen was really impressed with the design of the houses, which are designed in a Scandinavian style and were built in 2020.

After eight trips to the country, this Airbnb of

Iceland

deserved a special place in my heart, and not just because we were celebrating a major life event. Each day we found ourselves within driving distance of waterfalls, geothermal fields of boiling mud and steam towers, volcanic craters, arctic lupine fields,

hot Springs

, and volcanic rock fields. And while the country is known for this type of diverse landscape, capturing it all in less than an hour’s drive is an art form. I’m counting the days until our next visit, next time to enjoy the

Northern Lights

“, writes Owen in the conclusion of his article.
